8.00-15 Two-Piece Flat-Base Steel Rim for 300-15 and 11L-15 Tyres

A wide steel rim cannot be a single piece, and that is the honest reason this one is two-piece. At 8.00 inches of width, the tyre bead will not pass over the flange of a one-piece 15-inch base - the tyre simply cannot be mounted. So the base is pressed as one shell, and the outer edge comes off: a demountable flange held by a lock ring. Once the tyre is seated, the assembly behaves as a single wheel. The 5° tapered bead seat does the gripping, and there is no loose seat ring in this build. We make it for 300-15 and 11L-15 bias tyres running with a tube, mostly on tractor front axles, backhoes, loaders and implement carriers.

Agricultural tyres on this size run at a small fraction of what we see on mining equipment. That single fact reshapes what the rim has to resist, and it is why we do not build this size the way we build a mining rim:

 

Bead slip, not bead burst. At low pressure the tyre deflects a long way. Steering a ballasted front axle across concrete or a hard yard scrapes the bead against the seat, and the seat wears before anything else does. The seat area is where we hold tolerance and thickness. 

Sidewall load on the flange. A loaded front axle on end-drive tractors puts a twisting load into the flange at full steering angle. Flange geometry matters more than flange marketing.

Corrosion from what the machine works in. Fertiliser dust, slurry, silage effluent and pressure-washing after mud are harder on coating than the road is. Coating here is a service-life decision, not a colour decision.

 

Both are marketed on an 8.00-15 base, and the naming tells you how they differ:

The metric marking gives you a wider section than the imperial one, so the two tyres do not sit on the base identically even though both are listed for 8.00 width. Confirm the permitted rim-width range your tyre brand publishes before ordering - we will not pick a rim width from a catalogue pairing and call it engineering. Both are tube-type on this rim; the tube is sized to the tyre, not to the rim, and is supplied separately.

Rim size tells you the tyre fits. It does not tell you the wheel fits your hub. Before we cut steel:

1.Bolt circle, stud count, stud or bolt diameter.

2.Pilot (centre bore) - and whether your hub pilots the wheel or the studs do.

3.Offset, with the datum you measure from, since suppliers write this number differently.

4.Valve hole position, and whether you need an extension for duals.

5.Spoke-plate mating face: flatness, finish, and any hub-cover or grease-fitting requirement.

Weight platforms for front-wheel rim weights, if the machine is ballasted that way. State the weight class you hang, and we build the platform and holes to take it.

Dual spacing - running two on one axle? We match the spacer interface and valve extension so both tyres breathe.

Ballast with liquid or foam, which changes what the rim must seal and how the valve is specified. Tell us before we quote, not after filling.

Coating: electrodeposited primer, sprayed top colour over it. Colour to your number or a physical chip.

Sample or trial quantity available. Drawing and data sheet come back before production, so what you approve is paper, not a container. Non-standard widths and hole patterns are possible; some need new dies, and you hear that in the first reply rather than after you commit.

Is an 8.00-15 rim tubeless or tube type?
On this flat-base two-piece build, tube type. A tube is sized to the tyre and ordered separately from the rim.

Can 300-15 and 11L-15 share the same rim?
Both are offered on an 8.00 width, but the metric casing is wider in section than the 11-inch one, so the permitted range published by your tyre brand is what settles it - not the pairing table on a supplier page.

Why two pieces instead of one?
Above roughly this width a tyre cannot be forced over a one-piece flange. The removable flange is what makes mounting and demounting possible.

Do the flange and lock ring come with the rim?
Yes, as part of the set. Say so in your enquiry anyway - replacement orders often need the loose parts alone.

Can you match a tractor front-axle bolt pattern that is not in any list?
Yes, and that is normal rather than exceptional in farm equipment. Send the hub drawing or a pattern you can measure; we build the PCD and pilot to it.

What causes wear on this kind of rim?
Bead slip from steering on hard surfaces at low pressure, and coating failure from wash and chemical exposure. Both are addressable at the drawing stage.
